These are some of the comments I managed to save from my old website. Many of them are from 2012-2013. A lot sure has changed since then.
What an amazing series, this story takes you in and makes you care about the characters, it is realistic and well constructed. I would highly recommend this series to anybody who has an interest in post apocalyptic fiction, or indeed anybody who likes to read about people. 5 Stars
-Linda I live in Cincinnati and I love your books. I’m a die hard fan. It inspired me to start my own novel and I hope that one day you will be reading it. Thank you for your creativity and the books you've written that I'm sure millions have enjoyed! -Autumn Evans "I absolutely loved the characters in this tale. From the regretful marine who is determined to make right what has been wronged, to a witch who has finally unleashed her full potential. It's such a creative blend that I haven't seen before in any fantasy..very refreshing and well-played by the author!" -Doug I hope Angela see's this because it is a plea for the rest of the series. I can't get it out of my mind. I have dreams about how the next book will read. Hurry Angela. I am ready to read the first one again but it only took me two weeks to read all of them so they are still fresh in my mind. Love them, love your work. You are an amazingly talented writer. Thanks for the wonderful entertainment. -Connie T. Just wanted to let you know that I love the Life After War series. Just downloaded Safe Haven and that's what I'll read this weekend. Glad to hear that's there's more to come. Thank you!! -Sheree As a fan of post apocalyptic fiction, your Life After War series hit the spot! I love the beauty of magic that you bring into the world after "the end as we know it". I hope your characters have many more stories to tell. -Tasha At last. Women who don't act like complete idiots and wait for the men to save them! I LOVE THIS SERIES!!! BELIEVABLE CHARACTERS. This is how it would be! Cant wait to read the fourth book. Starting it now. -Sheila I have bought Books 1-3 of your series and I am patiently waiting for 4. You have a novel story line but could use a little more character description and more area description to be able to visualize better. Other than this, I have thoroughly enjoyed the kindle editions and have reread them to pick up details that were missed. Keep up the good work...Write faster... -Patsy I love the books, but I got to a part that keeps nagging at me and I can't seem to get past it. Okay when you were writing book 2 you mentioned that Doug the big guy was never taken down until Marc did it, then in book 3 instead of Marc being the one that knows Kia it's Neil but Neil wasn't able to take down Doug with just one hit, if Neil knew Kia then he should be able to of taken down Doug without any problems at all instead it was Marc. Have huge issues with that it's like Marc is being replaced for his skills that supposedly Neil has had the whole time but wasn't able to knock Doug on his butt when Marc is. Seems like some of the main plot line got lost/forgotten when trying to keep it all put together. Also Angela is a horrible mother, yes she loves her kid but it's more about eagles than it is about her kid some days she doesn't even see him. And for her getting pissed at Marc for not telling her, that her kid was drunk well um maybe if she spent just as much time with her kid as she did trying to be all bad butt then her kid wouldn't be getting drunk and drinking. Those are the two things that have really been bothering me about these books, other than that I think the books are great and I've liked them, but my mind just keeps going back to those points over and over again. Thought might as well tell you instead of just thinking it. -AC Love the books they are a great read. as everyone here is gushing praise, I would like to offer a kind critique. In future books cut down on the relationship drama and increase the action/battles and rescuing of survivors. this would be appreciated by the male audience. Keep up the great work! thanks. -SD I got book one downloaded and read it, guess what hooked me big time. Bought the next two and tried to read them so it would last but couldn't put them down. Am now ready for Adrian's Eagles! I have enjoyed your characters, the story line and the read. Is awesome Angela great writing and hope it continues! Best series in a long time! -JohnnieMac You write well and enjoy the story, except there is too much of the Marc and Angela stuff. Seems like you're trying to inject a romance novel in the middle of an action/adventure story. Thanks for making the first book free by the way. -Paul I’m totally hooked! I've done all 3 books this month, I should be asleep now, it's midnight in the UK and I haven't prepared tomorrows lecture! I'm too excited to sleep though because I want to read Adrian’s Eagles which I thought I'd have to wait for but just realized I don't! Brilliant, keep them coming. -Adam Angela is a great story teller - I was a beta reader for the most recent and have become a fan of the entire series... her newest is so well written and edited, I was unable to get my mind out of the story. I have watched her mature as an author, but her story telling ability is and has been right up at the top.. she is one of my very favorite writers... -Dennis "Highly entertaining. Couldn't put it down." -Misty Hi Angie. I love your series after the war, but can't access your blog as its not available to Australia. Can you please tell me when Adrians Eagles will be available? Thanks -Linda “I was blown away from the very first chapter in this book. It was filled with suspense and kept me longing for more at the conclusion of each chapter.” -Sarah Boyd I highly recommend this series to all my friends and students. I love the development of the characters and look forward to many more installments in the world Angela has created...I eagerly await book four...... -Chad Johnson Once you pick up the first book you are totally hooked into the series! Characters are real, way of live believable and each book leaves you wanting the next one! -Laura Great story line! Your character development is great. I agree with Rosalie - you need a new editor, or whoever types it into the Kindle editions needs a refreshers course in grammar. Otherwise - good stuff! -Rae Didn't put it down after I started reading. My only complaint is you need to talk to someone who is or has been in the military. Since you have a marine or two in the story talk to one. -Darryl I just finished book 4 and can not wait til the next. Any idea when it will be available? This should be made into a TV series, Im sure it would get alot of viewers. -Roni Ok I am completely hooked!!! just got the fourth book and was curious if it's the final book or will there be several more? –L -Lv Well, just read the three books in two days so I have been caught up in the story...however , sometimes the story drags and please be careful not to make in any more of a soap opera. I do plan on getting book 4. -Barbara Angela, like a fine wine your writing has improved over time. Thank for a great series of books, with such strong, well developed characters. I can't wait for the next installment - keep 'em coming! -Julia |
Great story line. I have enjoyed reading the first three books. My only complaint is that I can't start book IV to night.
-G. Carpenter I am a prolific reader, this series is excellent, drawing you in page by page, Safe Haven begins to draw all the different threads together in a new and exciting way; I am So looking forward to the next book; Brilliant writing. -Fu "The way the book is written you feel like you are smelling what the characters smell, seeing through their eyes, and feeling what they touch. It is a beautifully painted world of disaster." -Keller S. I have read books 1 thru 3 and loved every bit of them. I especially like Angela, Brady and the trooper, Neil. I am anxiously looking forward to reading book 4. Keep up the good work! -Jen A good book made better by the way the author has re-imagined post apocalyptic America. Fun to read, and a bit addictive- so certainly will be picking up future books in the series. -Jeff I love post apocalyptic fiction and this one hit the spot! Well written, it combines some classic elements of the genre (a group of unlikely companions) with a gritty portrayal of what the leftovers of an apocalypse could look like. -Adrian Great story, great characters, but the writing is so deplorable that it's difficult for me to read. My mind just keeps stuttering every time I come across misspelled words, words used wrongly, wrong tense verbs, plurals with an "apostrophe s" on them, grammatical errors, punctuation errors and knotty syntax. I bought the first three as a "three-in-one" for my Kindle. I read one of these comments mentioning that the person appreciated the editing, so maybe there's been improvement since the ones I bought came out. At any rate, I'm about to buy #4 because I am TOTALLY hooked on the story and the wonderfully developed characters. And I love Dog. Putting him in the mix was a great idea. He reminds me so much of the 1/2 wolf I had for so many years. They really are that smart! -Reb Compulsive reading. I find the mix of post apocalyptic survival with magical fantasy a bit bizarre... when not set in the far future... and for a reader from abroad -UK- the (my apologies- cringe) 'Americanism' is a bit over the top. But all in all what a great read! Very thought provoking and I find it actually affecting the way I look at the world. I can't wait to read the next installment. Tipsy and turvy, brutal sometimes but ultimately humanist, i am enjoying this very much! Needs polish perhaps and it may be a bit quirky, but ultimately it is better for it in some ways! Alternately charming and disturbing, I wouldn't recommend this to anyone but those I know and trust... Was there something about the Masons and the breeding of the descendants of Jesus mentioned? Or is my conspiracy theory addled mind finally collapsing? -X I have read all the books so far, and have been waiting on Book 5 for a while now. Is it coming sometime soon? I am chomping at the bit to see where this goes. I read the first 3 books in a week, and want book 5. -Michael I NEED book 5 now!! Great read tyvm!!! -Cynthia Just bought Adrian's eagles after reading 1st 3 books which are totally spell binding can't put them down every spare minute kindle is out and i am reading it going to start book 4 now can't wait to see what happens and keep them coming -Darren You need to know I'm 67 yrs old and not a young reader and have read all my life and I'm a very eclectic reader. I have enjoyed your books so much that I couldn't help but contact you. Only the second time I have contacted an author. You are so extremely talented in story telling and character development that your inability to write a solid sentence was quite frustrating, but I kept with you. Adrian's Eagles definitely has benefitted from editing. The problem I had with it and the previews of the fifth book is the quotations. You've pretty much fixed everything else. It still is a problem to tell who the quotes come from. In Adrian's Eagles and the sample of the fifth book, I often couldn't tell who was speaking. I would go back and reread and sometimes figure it out but many times I couldn't. That is very frustrating. Not only to have to go back and reread but to never figure it out. Usually, quotes by different people don't occur in one paragraph. Each quote is a separate paragraph with an acknowledgement of the speaker. If you would do that, it would really help. You need to know how much I admire your ability to create characters, to create the psychological means to move people, to form them. -Carol Just finished Adrian's Eagles. Love the story and characters. I have enjoyed all four of this series. However, I am disappointed with all the mistakes. Whoever is proofing this is not doing you justice. I think that your series is good enough that you might want to get this corrected. -Dean Have started reading book 4. I am disappointed to read that everyone smokes heavily and also uses marijuana. Do you really think people who fight so hard to survive, would continually risk getting cancer? -Carla I finished all four Life After War books and then went on to read Bone Dust and Beginnings which takes place 5 years after the Safe Haven books. I am confused. Why are there other titles available when the original series hasn't been completed? I love your writing style and look forward to finding out what happens to all the characters after Adrian’s Eagles but I really don't understand the hopscotching. -Suzann "I couldn't quit reading. Good, realistic characters that draw you into the story. Great storyline that portrays the reality of what could happen in a post-apocalyptic world. I can hardly wait for book 4. Highly recommended!" -Kim W. This is the best series of books I have read. I have actually read all of them twice (some 3 times)!!! I will probably read them all again several times....bewitching ...if you'll pardon the pun... So I trust we will see the next soon please soon as u like! I trust the answer is "yes u will"!!!! -Alex I have read The Survivors: Book One, and just finished Book Two. I'm about to get Book Three. These books have been hard to put down. I kept telling myself just a few more pages, just a few more pages. They are very well written and I can hardly wait to start on book Three. -S. "I would definitely recommend this book to everyone as this is an action packed and very exciting novel." -Nicole My sister recommended the series to me - so I went ahead and got the Trilogy, and then had to get Adrian's Eagles -thanks Angela, you did a great job! I can't wait for the next books to come out to see where they land up, and what happens after that. -Joyce Help! My son said I am going though withdrawal from reading your books. I started reading LAW June 27th books 1-3 then started and finished book 4 June 29th. I need more please. The shakes are bad. -Rachellea Hi, Just finishing off Safe Haven now, have to say it is an incredible series so far. Flying to Cuba in a week from the UK so the next one will do me well on the flight!!! -Chris Stephen King's "The Stand" is my most favorite book. These stories are along the same line. I downloaded and read all 4 of these this week....couldn't put them down! Now waiting impatiently for #5. p.s. - looks like editing has been done (as of 7/2012) ...I didn't run across many spelling or grammar errors. -Cheri |
Ms. White, I stayed home all day reading "On the Road" and don't regret that I got nothing done. I read a comment that you left on Amazon about Book 3 and am glad you wrote it. So everyone's complaining about editing. That's not new news. I am a new fan of yours and have a little experience with editing. If you have a focused group of people looking at your work for editing -- not just spelling and grammar, but also for any possible discrepancies in your plot and character development -- I would like volunteer to be in that group. You've got a fantastic story line. I mean no disrespect to Mr. Malof at all. I'm looking forward to Save Haven: Book Three.
-Brandice OK, I've read books 1-3 twice (really appreciated the editing...but the story was good enough that I read it the first time with no problem and much anticipation). Now...when's Adrian's Eagles going to be out? I see you're pre-selling it here. That's good for you, right? Then you don't have to pay Amazon fees, right? I'd rather YOU got all my money! I'm getting really antsy here!! I love these books. Oh, thought you should know..I think I've figured out where Kendle and Luke fit in (Luke looks like Luke on "Gilmore Girls", doesn't he? LOL) When the books open, Angie is talking about the ocean, and not being in America. The Survivors go to Pitcairn Island, right? Thanks so much for these books! -Jeanne Hi, do you have a date as to when Adrian's Eagles will be released for kindle? I tried to find this out from the blog but when you press the release date link it jumps back to opening page. Really looking forward to reading it, have loved the Safe Haven books, thank you! -Emma "It's become very rare for me to read a novel that leaves me thinking (and talking) about it two weeks after I finished it, but this book has accomplished that and more." -Steve I was totally captivated from the moment I started reading. The storyline was interesting and masterfully put together. Bravo for the exquisite writing. A great read. -Ann Way to go! I read constantly but am picky about my material. I could not put this series down! Have recommended it to my friends. (remember this when those "shakes" try to get you down) ;) -E. Standley I was never a big reader until my husband bought me a kindle. I did however always read the new releases of one author, who was my favorite. I downloaded the first 3 books from amazon, and fell in love. You have moved into first place as authors go. I just downloaded the 4th book and am so excited! Please keep writing, this is the best book I have ever read. -Michelle Keep them coming! Most people believe The future will always go their way and have given no thought of surviving for even the most basic of emergencies of a week or longer. Your books are great, characters well written and good interplay. SO when do we get the next four or five books? If you need any ideas; I may have them.....I have probably read most of all of this particular genre the way back to the "Alas Babylon" oldie but goodie! Get to work.....we (your loyal fan base) needs its' fix. Thanks for such great reading. Ready to get lost in the next book! -Sunshine Angela, I have to say that next to Stephen King your series are definitely the books I want with me if the world tries to kill itself. LOL!! Seriously though I have been enjoying the books and cannot wait to get my hands on the fourth book. Keep the good work up. As for the past three books they are great and look forward to many more books from you. Thank you -Lori Absolutely LOVED the first three books and have just now pre-ordered book #4. Your story has everything I want in a PA book (and more!) and I can't wait to read more of your writing because you have totally blown away so many authors with your work. :) -Judy Just read book two on the kindle, brilliant writing and compulsive reading, just about to order book three. -Chris I love the first two books of your After War series. The plot is exciting and the characters are beautifully developed. However, the typos and poor grammar and just general poor editing are so prevalent that reading them was painful. If The Survivors' characters had not grabbed me, I would not have read On The Road. I would love to edit your books. Please contact me if you are interested. Or find another editor, but please correct this in future books. -Rosalie "I love sci-fi, fantasy, and war books. Sometimes it takes me a chapter or 2 to get hooked on a book. Not with this one! I was hooked after page 1. It was a great read and had a hard time putting it down." -Brendan "This book has an awesome story line! I love these kind of disaster stories, they keep me on the edge of my seat." -A. Hainz I know you have heard it a thousand times. I am ready for book 4! Anytime soon? -Derek Thanks! Thank you for such a great series. I was happy to see Adrian's Eagles was complete when I finished the first 3.....been a while since I have enjoyed a honest to goodness "can't put it down stay up late" story! -Mark I read a couple of books every two or three days, but I am happy I downloaded your book in this series it was free so I took a chance and am happy I did bought the next two and I'm hooked keep up the good work . -Rebecca Hi Angela, My name is Rick, I bought your first book a few months ago , basically because I had run out of series to read at the moment. I honestly had low expectations for your books, I've bought several self published books by relatively new Authors over the last several years on my Kindle App. Most of them were so terribly written, composed, and structured that , while I soldiered through the majority of them ( I'm a cheap bastard, don't like to waste what I've paid for!). They were, as I said horrible, for the most part. Your first book at first struck me as a continuation of my luck with these little Kindle only books as I call them. It was obvious the Author was new and not fully polished, the book tended to ramble in not a few places, and the editing (which some morons go on and on about) was not up to publishing house standards. However..... The story was good, very well structured, and obviously done as a work of love by a talented writer who is blossoming and finding her way through the process. I bought the second book, and the improvement in style and editing showed, not only that, but the story was still engrossing. After the second book I was hooked. I have just finished ADRIAN'S EAGLES. It was very good, fast paced (mostly, too many long looks by characters for my taste) and STILL engrossing. Angela, King, Clancey, Heinlein, Clark, all the greats of their genres started out "new" at some time or other , your books have the feel of THE STAND to them, the story is new and fresh, and well executed. I am a 35 year veteran Cop, and a Vietnam vet. And your books hooked me, I look forward to the next chapter. Just wanted to let you know, there are a lot of pinheads out there whose only goal in life is to tear down the achievements of others. I'm sure you have heard from the as they type furiously away from their parents basements. Also, I can assure you, your "bad guys" are not exaggerated. The world , and country, has a over abundance of dirtbags scumbags and just plain scroats, that would act every bit as bad as your bad guys, probably worse. Thanks, Rick Koeninger, Dallas Oh, one more thing. Even the greats are not perfect. Just finished Kings 10-22-63. While great, seemed as if he rushed the unsatisfying ending. Cheers! -Rick |
